Salesforce vs investor CRMs: how far each one goes.

Investor CRMs like REsimpli come ready for wholesaling and are the faster start. Podio lets you build your own apps. Salesforce goes furthest on data model, automation, reporting and testing, but costs more and needs to be set up. The right pick depends on your team size, markets and the reports you need.

How far Salesforce goes

Your process, not a fixed pipeline

One object for each thing you track: lead, property, offer, contract, buyer and assignment, all linked. Enterprise allows 200 custom objects and 500 custom fields per object, far more than an investor team needs.

Automation without code

Flow runs when a record changes (contract signed, so title and dispo get tasks), on a schedule (every Monday, "not ready" leads come back) and for approvals (an offer over MAO needs a manager). See the automations I'd build first.

Any question as a report

Cost per closed deal by lead source, offers over MAO by rep, days from first call to contract. Joined reports put marketing spend and closed deals in one view; reporting snapshots save the pipeline weekly so you see the trend. See the pipeline dashboard.

Built to grow

Sandboxes to test changes before they go live, field history on up to 20 fields per object (source), access by team and market, a daily API allowance that starts at 100,000 requests on Enterprise (source), and AppExchange, which lists more than 7,000 apps and consulting partners (source).

When Salesforce is overkill

Stay with an investor CRM if

You're solo or a small team doing a few deals a month, and the built-in pipeline fits how you work.

Salesforce makes sense when

You run several teams or markets, you need reports your tool can't build, or your process doesn't fit their pipeline. It should pay for itself in deals you keep, so get a quote first: most businesses are offered a discount on list price.

Questions

Is Salesforce better than an investor CRM?

Not for everyone. An investor CRM is built for wholesaling out of the box and is quicker to start. Salesforce fits when you have several teams or markets, need reports your current tool cannot build, or your process does not fit a fixed pipeline. I build on Salesforce, so weigh my view with that in mind.

How much does Salesforce cost for a small investor team?

Salesforce lists per-user monthly prices on its pricing page, but most businesses don't pay list. Talk to a Salesforce account executive: many teams are offered a discount based on the business and the number of users. Setup is extra, whether you do it yourself or hire someone.

Can Salesforce do what Podio does?

Podio lets you build custom apps from its field types and link apps with relationship fields. Salesforce does the same with custom objects and lookup fields, and adds built-in Flow automation, joined reports, reporting snapshots and sandboxes for testing changes.

Do I need a developer to run Salesforce?

Not for most investor setups. Objects, fields, page layouts, Flow automations and reports are built with point-and-click tools. Code is only needed for unusual integrations or logic.

What is the first step if I want to compare?

Write your stages from new lead to closed on paper, list the five reports you want every Monday, and ask each vendor to show you that exact flow and those reports in a demo.
