Driving for dollars with Salesforce.

You can run driving for dollars from the Salesforce mobile app, which works offline and syncs later, and add Salesforce Maps or a partner app like Geopointe for routes. Here’s what to capture on each property, what the mobile app and map tools do, and what happens after the drive so the house becomes a lead you can measure.

Short version
  • Driving for dollars works in Salesforce with the mobile app: it caches recent records, and Offline Edit lets you create and edit records with no signal, syncing later. source
  • For routes and map views you need an add-on: Salesforce Maps (routes, territories, nearby search) or a partner app like Geopointe. source · Geopointe
  • The rule that matters: one Property record per address, checked for duplicates, so a house you drive past twice isn’t two leads.

What should a driving-for-dollars record capture?

FieldTypeWhy
AddressAddress fieldsThe match key for duplicates and mapping
Distress signsMulti-select picklist (overgrown, boarded, tarp, code notice, mail piling up, vacant)Lets you filter and score; free text can’t be filtered
Occupancy guessPicklistChanges the outreach
PhotoFile on the recordProof for the acquisitions call
Driver and dateLookup and dateWhich driver’s routes produce deals
Lead sourcePicklist = Driving for dollarsSo cost per deal works for this channel too

What does the Salesforce mobile app do in the field?

Offline caching and Offline Edit

By default the app caches up to 30 recent records for each of your 5 most recent objects. With Offline Edit, users create, edit and delete records offline, and changes sync when the device reconnects. source

Quick create actions

Mobile smart actions give one-tap create on leads and other core objects; a custom action can open a short “new property” form with only the fields above. source

Business card scan

Meeting a neighbour, contractor or agent on the street? The app can scan a business card into a contact. source

What happens after the drive?

1. Deduplicate

Duplicate rules alert or block when a new record matches an existing address. Up to 5 active duplicate rules per object. source

2. Skip trace

Send the address to your skip tracing provider and write phones and DNC flags back. BatchData’s API, for example, returns phones flagged mobile or landline with DNC and TCPA litigator checks; there’s no native Salesforce connector, so this is middleware or a custom callout. source

3. Outreach with consent rules

Calling and texting rules apply to these numbers too. See the texting guide.

4. Score the driver, not just the house

Report deals and contracts by driver and route. That tells you which areas to drive again.

Questions

Can I use Salesforce offline while driving for dollars?

Yes. The mobile app caches recent records, and Offline Edit lets you create, edit and delete records offline; changes sync when you reconnect.

Does Salesforce have route planning?

Salesforce Maps, an add-on, offers route optimization, territory planning and nearby search. Partner apps such as Geopointe also do routing.

How do I avoid duplicate properties from driving for dollars?

Keep one Property record per address and turn on duplicate rules matching on the address, so a second visit updates the record instead of creating a new lead.
